Meena Kumari, born in a muslin family in 1932 in Bombay. Her original name was Mahjabeen. She was the legendary tragedy queen of Indian cinema and was one of the most beloved actresses of all times in Bollywood cinema. She is invariably called the "Tragedy Queen" and her work is considered immortal.. Meena Kumari gained fame with her role as a heroine in Vijay Bhatt's Baiju Bawra (1952
She has significant contributions as an actress as well as a child actress baby Meena who started at the age of just six years
Her classic contributions include Parineeta, Baiju Bawra, Saheb Biwi aur Ghulam,Parineeta (1953), Daera (1953), Ek Hi Raasta (1956), Sharda (1957), and Dil Apna Aur Preet Parayi (1960). Apart from tragedy she also acted in some light movies like Azaad (1955), Miss Mary (1957), Shararat (1959), and Kohinoor (1960).
She was also one of the great urdu poets of the land and has written beautiful sad poems in her lonely days!
For her distressed married life she wrote

Meena Kumari was a immortal actress.Who is yet alive in indians hearts.She passed away 20 yrs before my birht.den to i now her.i have watched her pakeezah around 60 times.she use to consume alchol but der is always a reason to drink.but where ever she is may her soul rest in peace.and i think all blak and white movies should be colored cos no movies today r worth watching.
