Suchitra Sen is the most popular Bengali actress ever. Suchitra was born in 1934 in Pabna (now Bangladesh). She was also known under the name Rama. She was the first Indian actress awarded in an international film festival. She received the Best Actress award for the movie Saat Paake Bnadha in 1963 Moscow film festival. Suchitra Sen and Uttamkumar created an enduring romantic duo with sparkling screen magic in Bengali cinema. Her ethereal beauty coupled with her phenomenon screen presence and immense box office popularity, particularly her on-screen pairing with the late Uttam Kumar, gave her a legendary cult status in Bengal.

Her innings in cinema began with Share Chuattar (1952), but her debut film was Shesh Kothai, 1952 which never got released. After Share Chuattar, she worked opposite Uttam Kumar in Sagarika, Shap Mochan, Harano Sur, Pathay Holo Deri and Saptapadi. Apart from this she created her own style with films like Hospital, Deep Jeley Jai, Uttar Phalguni and Saat Pake Bandha.
